I had to post this digg because of my terrible experience with Comcast. A short while ago my girlfriend and I moved to San Anselmo from SF. We researched alternate solutions to broadband but discovered none existed in our area - odd considering Marin county is one of the richest places in the Bay Area and we're only a short skip away from Silicon Valley.
We decided to bite the bullet and go with Comcast despite their terrible track record in customer service. Things started off poorly when in ordering our service they insisted a technician come out to our house for $90.00 and waste a good portion of my Saturday morning even though I was quite capable of doing the job myself.
The technician showed up 4 hours late, by then I had already gotten myself connected to the internet and was in a rotten mood. He proceeded to poke around our property to make sure we weren't poaching from our neighbors and basically did nothing and left. 15 minutes later I get a knock at the door and he's telling me I can't use my modem because it was regionalized for SF only even though it was working fine. By then my girlfriend had gotten even more irritated than me and basically scared him off our property - hopefully never to return. I hate Comcast.
